About Doug Burke
Doug is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, with more than 30 years experience as a clinical counsellor. Doug specialises in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression and anger management, with a specific interest in how these problems impact on relationships.
Doug has provided clinical services for veterans and their families, victims of assaults, survivors of accidents and disasters, and many other traumatic incidents.
He works in private practice (Therafit Pty Ltd), having previous clinical and group work experience in the Australian Government’s counselling service for Vietnam Veterans – VVCS – now called Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service (for 19 years).

What Happens During a Session?
Doug ‘s counselling sessions are usually for one hour and are face to face, although sessions can be provided on Skype or by phone.
How much does it cost?
Doug will discuss his fees per hour prior to his first session with you. Sessions are generally for one hour. Payment can be made at the session or in response to a posted invoice.
Cancellations can be made by email or phone no later than 24 hours prior to the session, or a cancellation fee will be charged.
Can I claim on my Health Fund?
Rebates are available under Medicare if a GP or psychiatrist refers (with a Mental Health Treatment Plan).
