“Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.”B.K.S. Iyengar
About Peter Bisson
Peter is an experienced hatha yoga teacher, having taught since 1992 after a career as a biologist. He is also a qualified acupuncturist and massage therapist.
His classes encourage an awareness of the balance between Body and Mind. This is achieved through gentle and explorative stretches to identify and release tension, postures (asanas) for flexibility, strength and alignment, and flowing sequences (vinyasa) for enhancing energy flow. Peter’s classes also include breathing practices (pranayama), meditation (dhyana), and deep relaxation (yoga nidra). The aim with these practices is to acknowledge and respond to the body’s constant communication with us in order to strengthen the immune system, prevent disease, reduce or eliminate aches and pains, and prevent premature ageing. This maintenance and improvement of energy allows life to be more fully experienced from a joyful and peaceful perspective.
The awareness and understanding of energy flow, and the way that we use it is central to Peter’s approach to yoga and what he offers to those in the classes. His philosophy of the practice of yoga is epitomised in the words of Joseph Campbell, “…what we are seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.”
Peter offers classes at both general (beginners also welcome) and intermediate levels, with variations to suit all practitioners.
